“Earozoru Kenkyu” (Aerosol Research) Electronic Edition (J-STAGE page opens: Published from Vol. 1) . The submission guidelines, copyright regulations, and submission templates have been revised as of April 2021.
In 2021, the content of “Earozoru Kenkyu” is included in Elsevier’s Scopus®.
Special feature articles published less than a year ago are password-protected. Notifications for each issue’s publication are sent out via a mailing list, and the authentication information for J-STAGE will be provided within that. If you have any questions, please contact the editorial office.

“Earozoru Kenkyu” (Journal of Aerosol Research) publishes original papers (peer-reviewed research papers, technical papers, review papers, letters, notes, and discussions) written in both Japanese and English as well as general articles related to aerosols. The journal encourages the submission of original papers and general articles from abroad. For the submission of an original paper, one of the authors should be a member of the Japan Association of Aerosol Science and Technology. Earozoru Kenkyu are scheduled to be published quarterly on 20th of March, June, September, and December. Free electronic publication of “Earozoru Kenkyu” is available at J-STAGE. Password is needed to access articles within one year after publication. |

Type of manuscripts There are 6 categories of original papers: research papers, technical papers, review papers, letters, notes, and discussions. These papers must not have been published in an academic publication nor be under consideration for publication elsewhere. Original papers may also be published as “Feature Articles” (except for letters, notes and discussions). For original papers, feature articles, and interpretive articles, submitted manuscripts will be peer-reviewed by several referees and an Associate Editor. Referees should have qualifications and expertise to judge the content of the manuscript. Acceptance for publication will be decided by the Editorial Board based on results of the review. Original papers Research papers Reports of research whose target, method and/or results are original and creative and contain valuable facts or conclusions. Technical papers Reports of data that have practical value related to aerosol or technical research and reviews of new technology. Review papers Review reports of previous research in a specific research or technology, consolidation and discussion based on original perspectives and reports containing and valuable analytical results, concepts and other information. Letters Reports of creative research containing valuable facts or conclusions, especially those requiring immediate publication (details are expected to be submitted as a research paper or technical paper at a later date). Notes Notes are short but complete papers containing valuable facts or conclusions even if they are fragmentary information. Discussions Questions and answers in the journal on content of published original papers. Feature articles Logical explanations on recent and/or previous important results and trends relating to specific research or technology specified by the Editorial Board, which are comprehensible to researchers and experts in the aerosol field. Interpretive articles Single or a series of articles that describe the recent and/or previous important results and trends relating to specific research or technology. They consist of submitted articles and those specified by the Editorial Board on the particular subject. The Interpretive articles should maintain the equivalent quality to those of Feature articles. How to submit Manuscripts of original papers, feature articles, and interpretive articles should be submitted through the electronic submission system (https://iap-jp.org/jaast/journal/). If it is not available, please contact to the Editorial Office of the Association. In case of submission of general articles, send manuscripts to the Editorial Office of the Association by mail. Authors and Authors responsibilities Submission fee, excess page charge fee, color printing fee, and reprint fee are described in Information for Authors.For original papers, feature articles, and interpretive articles, submitted manuscripts will be peer-reviewed by several referees and an Associate Editor. Acceptance for publication will be decided by the Editorial Board based on results of the review. For general articles, manuscripts may or may not be peer-reviewed based on the decision of the Board.The Editorial Board may return the manuscript to the author(s) with request for revisions. Manuscripts that are requested for revision should be resubmitted after revision as quickly as possible. When no response is made by the author(s) within 3 months after the return of the manuscript, the manuscript will be regarded as having been withdrawn.Manuscripts written in English may be checked by researchers with expertise in writing in English in order to improve the clarity of presentation and/or readability, either at the author’s request or by the decision of the Editorial Board and with the author’s consent. English proofreading fees will be charged to the authors in such cases.In order to unify terms and formatting, the Editorial Board may correct manuscripts to the extent that the meaning of a passage is not altered. Corrections will only be made with the author’s consent.Include as coauthors only those persons who have made significant scientific contributions to the work. All coauthors share responsibility for the quality and integrity of the submitted and published manuscript.Typographical errors will be corrected at the author’s request.Corrections, additions when the Editorial Board admits it, may be published in a forthcoming issue.All sources of financial support for the research should be clearly stated.An author should cite those publications that have been influential in determining the nature of the reported work and that will guide the reader quickly to the earlier work that is essential for understanding the present investigation.Never plagiarize the work of others or your own work. Always provide appropriate citation.The publication of some kinds of articles (such as clinical guidelines, translations) in more than one journal is sometimes justifiable, provided that certain conditions are met. The authors and editors of the journals concerned must agree to the secondary publication, which must reflect the same data and interpretation of the primary document. The primary reference must be cited in the secondary publication. Peer-review process For original papers, feature articles, and interpretive articles, submitted manuscripts will be peer-reviewed by several referees and an Associate Editor. For general articles, manuscripts may or may not be peer-reviewed based on the decision of the Editorial Board.Referees should have qualifications and expertise to judge the content of the manuscript. According to referees’ comments and advises on the manuscript, the Editorial Board may return the manuscript to the author(s) with request for revisions. Manuscripts that are requested for revision should be resubmitted after revision as quickly as possible.Acceptance for publication will be decided by the Editorial Board based on results of the review. Decisions on publication should be objective.Referees should have no conflicts of interest. In any case if conflicts of interest with any of the referee is suspected, an author or an Editorial Board member can contact the editorial office. According to decision by the Editorial Board, a referee who declares a conflict of interest is unassigned from the manuscript in question and replaced by a new referee.Referees should identify relevant published work that has not been cited by the authors. Any statement about an observation, derivation, or argument that had been previously reported should be accompanied by the relevant citation.The journal maintains confidentiality with all unpublished manuscripts. Referees must not use unpublished materials disclosed in a submitted manuscript without the express written consent of the author.
